It was built in 1889-1891 as the summer home of Philadelphia businessman Joseph Sinnott. It is a 2 1/2-story, stone building on a brick foundation in a Renaissance Revival / Châteauesque style. It features a high, steep sided, slate covered hipped roof, six decorated chimneys, numerous dormer windows, turrets, and stone carvings including gargoyles.
