José Juan Vázquez Gómez (born in Celaya Guanajuato, March 14, 1988) is a Mexican footballer who currently plays for León in the Mexican Liga MX mainly as a defensive midfielder. Vázquez is commonly known as "El Gallo" (Spanish for Rooster) for the way he styles his hair in a Mohawk.[1][2][3]

Club career

Celaya

Vázquez began playing football professionally at the age of 19 in fourth and third divisions of Mexico with teams such as Atlético San Francisco and Atlético Comonfort in the fourth division, and for Cuervos Negros de Zapotlanejo, América Manzanillo, and finally his home town team Celaya in the third division.

Vázquez made his second division debut with Celaya on July 29, 2011 against Leones Negros in which he played the entire 90 minutes of the game and after that became an undisputed starter for the rest of the season. Vázquez eventually was loaned to León for the Clausura 2012 season one season after accomplishing the promotion with Celaya.

León

Vázquez arrived at León on December 12, 2011 on loan while the team was still in the Liga de Ascenso.[4] In his first season he started every single match being substituted only once. During that season León won the Liga de Ascenso giving them the right to play the Promotional final against Correcaminos which they won by an aggregate score of 6-2 giving them the right to play on the Liga MX. Vázquez was bought by the team on May 2012 for León's first season in the first division in over 10 years. On December 2013 they beat América in the Estadio Azteca to earn their first title since making it to the first division and their sixth overall.
