Jory Collins (born October 14, 1978)[citation needed] is currently the head basketball coach for the Emporia State University Hornets women's basketball team. Collins has held the head coach position since April, 2010.[1]
Coaching career
In April 2010, when former head coach Brandon Schneider announced he had accepted the position at Stephen F. Austin,[2] Collins was named the head women's basketball coach of Emporia State.[1] Previously, Collins was the assistant for Emporia State. Before becoming a full time assistant for the team, Collins held several positions with the team. From 2000–2001, he was a Student Assistant, and from 2001–2003, he was a Volunteer Coach. In the 2004-05 season, Collins returned, but as a Graduate Assistant, due to earning a master's from the University. Collins took a year hiatus, to return to teaching elementary at a local school, in Emporia, Kansas. In 2006, he returned as a Volunteer Coach, and in the Spring of 2007, he was promoted to a full-time assistant.[1]
Personal
Collins and his wife, the former Casey Wilson,[1] have two sons, Jett and Jude.[1] Casey is a high school math teacher at Emporia High School.[1] Collins competed in both football and basketball for Holton High School, in Holton, Kansas. He received his BS in elementary education from Emporia State University in 2002 and a master’s in educational administration from ESU in 2006.[1]
