Jorge Arturo Oropeza Torres (born 4 May 1983) in Mexico City is a professional footballer. He currently plays for FCM Bacău in the Romania second division.

Club career

Early years

Oropeza began playing soccer when he was 6 years old. He grew up in the soccer fields. He played for Necaxa until he reach the national 3rd division. He then went to play for Club América to the national 2nd division, coached by Adrián Chavez. In his first season with the team, they reach the playoffs and then the final. The following season they reach the playoffs and then the semifinals.

After a year and a half, Oropeza was ready to show his abilities and his desire to continue growing as a professional Mexican soccer player.

Toluca

Oropeza received an opportunity from Pablo Luna to play for Toluca F.C., in the national 1st division "A" with Atlético Mexiquense. In his first season with Atlético Mexiquense, he helped his team reach the final against Club San Luis. After the final, Oropeza played 2 more seasons until Américo Gallego called him to train with Toluca of the Primera División de México. Toluca was looking to reach the playoffs in the Clausura 2005-2006 in the Mexican league and Oropeza was training hard to receive the opportunity to make his debut.

It was on May 3, 2006 in the quarter finals against Cruz Azul, on Estadio Nemesio Diez, playing the minute 30, when Erick Espinoza was ejected. Americo Gallego called Oropeza to warm up, after a couple of minutes, Oropeza was on the field as a right midfielder. Toluca won 2 - 1. In the 2nd game, played in the Estadio Azul, Oropeza played again and Toluca reached the semifinals where Toluca was eliminated.

Oropeza returned to Atlético Mexiquense because there were a lot of known players on the first team. He continued working but he lost hope in playing again with Toluca.

Oropeza then went to Cancún, to the national soccer draft with his representatives Eder Turrubiarte (FIFA agent) and Carlos Turrubiarte. He had options to play in another National 1st division "A" team however, he made a statement to his representatives that he wanted to look for other options which would help improve his level as a soccer player.

Abroad

Consequently, Carlos and Eder began looking for different options that would benefit Oropeza looking at the MLS in USA and Denmark as options. Soon there was an offer from a soccer team in Albania which Jorge Oropeza and his representatives accepted. He then played for Klubi Sportiv Flamurtari Vlorë.

Oropeza played the 2007- 2008 season in Albania and moved in march to the 2nd league Romanian team FCM Bacău.

Personal life

He enjoys playing musical instruments such as the guitar and the drums. Jorge also likes playing Xbox 360 with his friends. In June 2008 he said in a magazine that he likes the band Slipknot.
