From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Johnsons Cleaners UK Ltd. of Liverpool, England is a provider of dry cleaning services in the United Kingdom.

The origins of the dry cleaning business go back to 1817 when Johnson Brothers started in business in Liverpool as silk dyers.

In 1920, Johnson Brothers joined forces in amalgamation with two dry cleaning companies, Jas Smith & Son and Flinn & Son Ltd of Brighton. Further expansion of the Group took place over the next 60 years until Johnsons became the largest dry cleaning organisation in the country.

Johnson Cleaners UK Ltd (JCUK) was formed in 1995 when the 12 operating companies, which made up the Johnson Group in the UK at that time, were restructured into just two companies.

The company includes the Sketchley and Jeeves of Belgravia brands.[1]

Johnsons have 500 stores nationwide and over 20% of the UK retail dry cleaning market, making them the number one in their field.[1]

Featured on the 'Sunday Times Best Green Companies' list for 2010.

Johnson Cleaners now offer a sheepskin boot cleaning service in all of their branches.
