John Smeaton Academy is an Academy School for 11- to 21-year-olds in between Scholes, Cross Gates, Barwick-in-Elmet, Pendas Fields and Swarcliffe, in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. This school was turned into an academy in 2014.

The school is named after John Smeaton of Austhorpe, Leeds, the 18th-century civil engineer.^{[citation needed]}

In January 2008 the school was inspected by Ofsted, who reported that it was "A good school with outstanding features".^{[citation needed]}

School reconstruction, in association with Leeds City Council and a privately owned business, began in 2004 and was completed in 2007. The school was re-opened in 2008 by John Smeaton, a baggage handler who helped thwart the attempted terrorist attack on Glasgow Airport.^{[citation needed]}
