John Scolinos

John Scolino (born March 28, 1918, in Los Angeles, California) was a Hall of Fame College Baseball Head coach who coached the Pepperdine University Baseball team for 14 seasons (1946-1960). He died at age 91 in 2009.

Coaching career

Scolino totaled 1,198 victories in just 14 seasons, for an average of 85+ wins per season, a truly amazing statistic, considering that college teams typically schedule only 56 games. While coaching Pepperdine, he won Division II national championships in 1976, 1980 and 1983, six California College Athletic Assn. championships and was named Division II coach of the year three times.

Olympics

Scolinos was the pitching coach for the 1984 U.S. Olympic Baseball team.[1]
