John Piscopo

John Piscopo is a Republican member of the Connecticut House of Representatives and is the Senior Republican Whip, the third-highest ranking leadership position within the House Republican caucus. He represents Burlington, Harwinton, Litchfield, and Thomaston.[1] He was first elected in 1988. [2] Piscopo is National Chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC).[3] In October 2012, he was one of nine US state legislators who went on an industry-paid trip to explore the Alberta tar sands, publicly described as an "ALEC Academy". The trip was paid for by Shell Oil, the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, Transcanada, and other groups with financial interests in the Alberta tar sands and the Keystone Pipeline. [4]
