John Palmer MacBeth (November 19, 1921[1] – March 20, 1991[2]) was a political figure in Ontario. He represented York West from 1971 to 1975 and Humber from 1975 to 1981 in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Progressive Conservative.[3]
Background
MacBeth was born in Toronto, the son of John Charles McKay MacBeth and Virginia Maria Palmer.[1] MacBeth served in the Royal Canadian Navy during World War II.[2] He was reeve of Etobicoke from 1963 to 1966[4] and was also chairman of the Etobicoke board of education.[2]
MacBeth served in the provincial cabinet as Minister of Labour, as Provincial Secretary for Justice, as Solicitor General and as Minister of Correctional Services.[3] After retiring from politics, he was vice-chairman of the Ontario Police Commission.[2]
Death
He died while vacationing in Tulsa, Oklahoma and is buried at Park Lawn Cemetery in Etobicoke.[2]
