John O'Reilly (composer)
John O'Reilly (November 25, 1940 –) is a modern-day composer and author of several successful concert band theory books. He has received numerous ASCAP awards, studied composition with Robert Washburn, Arthur Frackenpohl, Charles Walton and Donald Hunsberger. He graduated from the Crane School of Music at the State University of New York at Potsdam. In addition, he is the recipient of a Master of Arts in Composition and Theory degree from Columbia University. He has years of teaching experience at elementary through college levels. He is co-author of Accent on Achievement, the Yamaha Band Student and Strictly Strings and has made a major impact on concert band, and strings music education. He has also been the guest conductor for many middle and high school honor bands in the US, including Nebraska 8th grade All-State band.
