Lieutenant-General John Gordon Lorimer DSO MBE (born 1962) is a senior British Army officer.

Military career

Educated at Marlborough College and Pembroke College, Cambridge, Lorimer was commissioned into the Parachute Regiment in 1981.[1] He served in Northern Ireland.[1] He was appointed Commander of 12th Mechanized Brigade in June 2005 and was deployed to Iraq[2] and then Afghanistan.[1] In the rank of major general, he was appointed as the Chief of the Defence Staff's Strategic Communications Officer in 2010[1] and then as General Officer Commanding 3rd (UK) Mechanised Division in June 2011.[3] On promotion to lieutenant general he was appointed as Deputy Commander, International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in July 2013.[4][5]

In February 2014 it was announced that Lorimer would become Chief of Joint Operations in January 2015.[6]
