John Franklin Rixey
John Franklin Rixey (August 1, 1854 – February 8, 1907) was a Democratic U.S. Congressman from Virginia's 8th congressional district from 1897 to 1907.
The younger brother of Presley Marion Rixey, John Franklin Rixey was born in Culpeper County, Virginia, and studied law at the University of Virginia. He was elected to the 55th and to the four succeeding Congresses and served from March 4, 1897, until his death in Washington, D.C., February 8, 1907, before the close of the 59th Congress. He had been re-elected to the 60th Congress before his death. Rixey married Ella B. Barbour, daughter of James Barbour and his wife Fanny Thomas Beckham and granddaughter of John S. Barbour, Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Virginia's 15th congressional district.[1][2] He is interred in Fairview Cemetery in Culpeper.
