John Francis Yaxley

John Francis Yaxley (born 13 November 1936) Birmingham, England, spent his career as a civil servant in the UK Colonial Office. He was the eldest son of Canon Robert William Yaxley and Dorothy (née Archer).[citation needed]

Yaxley served in Vanuatu (formerly The New Hebrides), the Solomon Islands (formerly The British Solomon Islands Protectorate) and Hong Kong. He carried out[citation needed] the first census of the New Hebrides with Norma MacArthur in 1967, and subsequently reported on it.[1]

He held the office of Deputy Financial Secretary to the Treasury Bureau under Colonial Hong Kong, 16 March 1987 -March 1989.[2] Also in his time in Hong Kong he acted as secretary for Trade and Industry[3] and Financial Secretary.[4][5]

He was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 1990 Queen's Birthday Honours.[6]
