John W. Foust (born 1951) is a member of the Fairfax County, Virginia Board of Supervisors from the Dranesville district.
Personal life and education
Foust grew up in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and was the first person in his family to attend college. Foust earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Pittsburgh in 1973, an MBA from the West Virginia College of Graduate Studies in 1976, and a law degree from George Washington University Law School in 1981.[1][2]
Career
Foust worked in the steel mills to support himself in college. During law school and graduate school, Foust worked for a public utility, performing economic studies. After graduating from law school, Foust practiced law in Northern Virginia until his election to the Board of Supervisors. Foust was elected to the Fairfax Board of Supervisors as the representative from the Dranesville district in 2007, and was re-elected in 2011.[2]
Foust also serves as Chairman of the Fairfax County Economic Advisory Commission, and has been affiliated with the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission, the Route 28 Commission, the Mosaic Community Development Authority, the Dulles Rail Phase I and Phase II Tax District Commissions, the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, and the National Capital Region Emergency Preparedness Council.[2]
Foust is running for Congress in Virginia's 10th congressional district. The seat is currently held by Republican Frank Wolf.[3]
