John Butts

John Butts, who was born and educated in Cork, Ireland, spent most of his life in Dublin. He painted landscapes somewhat in the style of Claude Lorrain: he also practised as a scene-painter. He died in 1764.
Butts was also an art teacher, whose pupils in Cork included James Barry.[1]
