John Brown (bridge)

John Brown (born 1887 – deceased) of Grimsby, Yorkshire,[1] was a contract bridge player and author. He was the winner of the National Pairs, Northern Area in 1952.[1] His best-known book is Winning Defense (1952) which was regarded as making a "major contribution to the technical development of the game".[2] He was a contributor to many periodicals.[3]

Brown was the head ("County Captain") of the Lincolnshire Contract Bridge Association for several years starting in 1947.[citation needed]
