John Michael Alt (born May 30, 1962 Stuttgart, Germany) is a former professional American football offensive tackle in the National Football League. He played his entire NFL career with the Kansas City Chiefs from 1984 to 1996. He played his college years at the University of Iowa. He graduated from Columbia Heights (MN) High School.

Unable to stay away from the game for too long, Alt began assistant coaching at Cretin-Derham Hall High School in Saint Paul, Minnesota teaching the position he knows best, offensive line.

His son, Mark, was selected 53rd overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft by the Carolina Hurricanes.[1] He currently plays hockey for the University of Minnesota.[2] He signed with the Philadelphia Flyers on April 6, 2013.[3]
