Joel Houghton (born 26 November 1991) is an Australian rules footballer for the Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League. He was selected by Fremantle with the 36th pick in the 2009 AFL Draft. Houghton has been described as a tall forward with a great set shot and outstanding endurance.[1]
Houghton was selected as a WA Under-18 representative in 2009, and played all 5 games at the championships, kicking 10 goals.[2] During the WA state screening later in the year, and ran a beep test of 15.1, outstanding for someone of 194 cm.[1] Houghton was drafted to the Dockers on his birthday, and was later presented with the No. 17 guernsey.[3] Fremantle de-listed Houghton after the 2011 season.
