Joseph Lister Hubbard is a Democratic member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing the 73rd district, in Montgomery County.[1]
Biography
Joe Hubbard (he is the great-grandson of Joseph Lister Hill, an Alabama Congressman and Senator for nearly a half-century[2]) was born and raised in Montgomery, and graduated from Huntingdon College in 2003 before attending the Cumberland School of Law. After graduating law school in 2006, he served as a law clerk to Alabama Supreme Court associate judge Champ Lyons. Afterward, he practiced law in Montgomery.
In 2010, he ran for the 73rd district and defeated incumbent Republican David Grimes. Hubbard was the only Democrat to unseat a Republican incumbent in Alabama in 2010, and was one of only a dozen to do so nation wide. In the redistricting/reapportionment of the legislature that occurred in 2012, his marginally Democratic district was combined with the heavily Democratic black majority district of long-time Representative John Knight.
