Joanna Vanderham, born 1992 in Perth, is a Scottish actress.[1]

Early life

Joanna Vanderham was born into a middle-class family. Her father Tom, a Dutch businessman, and mother Jill, a professor of cardiovascular research at Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, split up when she was a child.[2]

Vanderham went to the High School of Dundee in Dundee, Scotland. Prior to that she attended the Robert Douglas Memorial School, which is the well-regarded primary school in Scone. She then went on to study drama at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff.[3]

Career

Vanderham plays Cathy in Sky TV's six-part serial The Runaway, which started on 31 March 2011, adapted from Martina Cole's novel. She plays the character of Denise in the popular eight-part BBC television series The Paradise. A second series has been filmed and began airing on the BBC in October 2013. She also appears in the film What Maisie Knew with Alexander Skarsgård and Julianne Moore, and as Pamela in the BBC drama Dancing on the Edge, directed by Stephen Poliakoff.[4]
