Joël Champagne (born January 24, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player. He is currently playing for the Braehead Clan of the Elite Ice Hockey League (EIHL). Champagne was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 5th round (129th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.[1]

Playing career

Prior to turning professional, Champagne played major junior hockey in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the Chicoutimi Sanguenéens, Prince Edward Island Rocket, Victoriaville Tigres, and the Québec Remparts.

Champagne played five regulation games for EC Red Bull Salzburg in the 2010 European Trophy.[2]

Champagne was not signed by Toronto Maple Leafs, and on May 31, 2011, he signed an AHL contract with the Milwaukee Admirals.[3]

After stints in the ECHL with the Cincinnati Cyclones and Reading Royals respectively, Champagne left North America as a free agent and signed a one-year contract with United Kingdom club, Braehead Clan of the Elite Ice Hockey League on July 29, 2013.[4]
