Career

Early career

Through his first film Kilippatt, Jishnu had this wonderful opportunity to act with leading actors of the time like Sukumaran, Adoor Bhasi, K. P. Ummar and Balan K. Nair. The film was directed by his father himself.

In Nammal, his first movie as a lead, he shared screen space with his childhood friend Siddharth, son of actress K. P. A. C. Lalitha and director Bharathan. His second movie Two Wheeler with Jayasurya was a much awaited movie but it is not yet released. Then he teamed up with Nammal writer Kalavoor Ravikumar and cinematographer P. Sukumar for the movie Choonda (2003). It was an offbeat movie and his performance in this movie was well received.[citation needed] Then he tried his hand in comedy in a movie titled Valathottu Thirinjal Nalamathe Veedu (2003) but it could not create any impact.[citation needed] Then he teamed up with director Thampi Kananthanam for an action movie titled Freedom in which he did the character of Lallan, a gangster who wants to stop all antisocial activities and lead a normal life; his performance was well acclaimed in the film.[citation needed] Then in the end of 2003 he did Parayam with Bhavana which did not match the hype.[citation needed] He also did movies with superstar Mammootty in Nerariyan CBI (2004) and Yugapurushan (2008). Then he did a guest role in Pauran with Jayaram in the lead in 2004. He also did a movie with Dileep titled Chakkara Muthu (2007).

Break from the film industry

He took a break from the film industry to join a project which promotes and develops information technology into rural India. In all his interviews he describes this period of his life as the most fruitful and fulfilling. He says that these years he has been able to visit the whole country and understand its people and it has been a great case study for his film career.[citation needed]

Return to films

He returned to the industry as a changed man with the superhit film Ordinary (2012) in which he played the role of a school teacher. He then acted in Nidra which was directed by his friend Siddharth. He did a cameo in Anwar Rasheed's Ustad Hotel. Although he was there for just one scene his performance as Mehroof, an arrogant rich Muslim could create tremendous impact.[citation needed] Then he teamed up with thriller director K. Madhu for a thriller called Banking Hours 10 to 4 in which he appeared as a commando who helps in unfolding a bank heist. After a thriller he experimented with comedy working with debutant Rajesh Nair in Annum Innum Ennum. The movie opened to negative reviews despite its posters and trailers having created a great hype.[citation needed] His next film Rebbecca Uthup Kizhakemala in which he donned the role of a Nasrani was also a dud.[citation needed] He also appeared in the film Players alongside Jayasurya.
