Jim Lemley (born March 9, 1965) is an American film and television producer based in Paris.
Early life
Born March 9, 1965, Lemley is the son of Jack Lemley.[1] Jack Lemley is the owner and CEO of Lemley and Associates. Jack Lemley was the Chief Executive of TransManche Link, the consortium that built the Channel Tunnel, which is the largest privately financed construction project in history. Jack Lemley was awarded the Commander of the British Empire ("CBE") by Queen Elizabeth II for his work on the Channel Tunnel.
Career
After starting his career in New York working in the music business for Island Records, Lemley moved to Los Angeles to pursue film. He then spent time at both Disney Company and NBC Universal before joining Icon Entertainment in 1992.
Over the next decade at Icon, he quickly rose through the ranks eventually serving as CEO of the London-based Icon Entertainment International. At Icon, he worked on various films including Maverick, Immortal Beloved, Braveheart, Anna Karenina, Payback, 187, and We Were Soldiers.[2] Additionally, he produced several television projects, including the highly rated The Three Stooges for ABC and Invincible for TBS. In 2001, Lemley resigned from Icon to produce films independently.
In 2002, Lemley teamed with Ridley and Tony Scott to executive produce the medieval romance Tristan & Isolde,[3] which was directed by Kevin Reynolds. In 2005, he partnered with Bonnie Curtis to executive produce the Wes Craven thriller Red Eye.
Lemley’s most recent credits include the Timur Bekmambetov directed action thriller Wanted (starring Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy),[4] the critically acclaimed drama The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, and the post-apocalyptic animated feature 9,[5] directed by Shane Acker, which he produced with Bekmambetov and Tim Burton.
Lemley reteamed with Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton to produce Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, released by Twentieth Century Fox in June 2012. Lemley is also producing multiple projects including Wanted 2 and Moby Dick [6] for Universal, and a science fiction project called Forever to be directed by Gareth Edwards of Monsters fame.[7] Both Bekmambetov and Lemley will co-produce the film.
Lemley is a member of the Producers Guild of America, Directors Guild of America and Screen Actors Guild. He serves on the Advisory Board for the University of Idaho, College of Business and Economics, and is a member of the Founders Group of the 5D Immersive Design Conference.
Personal life
He earned a B.A. in Marketing from the University of Idaho in 1988.[8]
He has a daughter Juliette with French actress Sophie Marceau.[9]
While in attendance at the University of Idaho, he was a member of the secret letter fraternity Delta Tau Delta.[10]
