Jibāl (جبال) was an administrative division located in western Iran, under the Umayyad and Abbasid Caliphates. It was roughly coterminous with the ancient country of Media. In the 10th century it came back under Buyid dynasty influence.

The word jibāl is Arabic for "mountains" and in this case refers to the Zagros mountains.[1]
