Jhajha is a town and a notified area in Jamui district in the Indian state of Bihar.

History

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[1] Jhajha had a population of 36,424. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Jhajha has an average literacy rate of 63%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 71%, and female literacy is 53%. In Jhajha, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.

Transport

Jhajha has fantastic connection of railway to major cities of India. Jhajha station is the southern end of eastern central railway of Indian railway situated on Delhi Howrah main line. It also has good connection by raodways to nearby cities through SH18. It has two busstands from where buses and auto are available for nearby places like Gidhaur, Sono, Borba, etc. Small vehicles are available for travelling to villages near the cities. Richshaw is also part of transportation for small distances.

Education

Jhajha has one degree college, four higher secondary schools, four high schools, three middle schools and number of primary schools. St. Joseph's school is best school in the city providing quality education starting from nursery to class ten which is a single school affiliated to ICSE New Delhi in Jamui district. Sardonyx school which has recently got affiliation from CBSE New Delhi is also supporting to education system of the city. The city is considered to be good for education up to class ten. Students are seen migrating to nearby cities like Deoghar, Patna, Giridih, Bokaro, Ranchi, Jamsedpur, Dhanbad and Bhagalpur after completing class ten. There not even a single college with commerce discipline for graduation. Large number of students migrate to Delhi, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and UP for higher education. Jhajha Public School is an English-medium school in Jhajha, a town in Jamui district in the Indian state of Bihar. It is located in the heart of Jhajha, and providing best education from nursery to class 6th. this is only school which provide martial art classes music class, dance classes, and smart classes also.
