Jencarlos Canela (born April 21, 1988) is an Cuban American actor and award-winning singer-songwriting musician. Canela was born in Miami, Florida to Cuban parents, Lisette and Heriberto Canela.[1] [2] He is the older brother of actor, Jason Canela and has two older siblings, both from his parents.[3]

Known worldwide for its three internationally renowned telenovela, his role as Ángel Salvador in Más Sabe el Diablo telenovela that was recorded during the year 2009-2010, in the year 2010 was released the movie line headed Más Sabe el Diablo: El Primer Golpe, along with Gaby Espino and Miguel Varoni. [4]

in 2011 he began recording the telenovela Mi Corazón Insiste with Carmen Villalobos. The telenovela was nominated for the inaugural award of the television channel Telemundo, which was the winner for best novel.

In 2013 the actor reappears in the new Telemundo telenovela Pasión Prohibida with Mónica Spear, in the same year as the actor won Favorite Lead Act at the second awards show entitled telemundo Premios Tu Mundo 2013.

After completing his projects television actor, began recording their third album he studied, which will be released in 2014, the proposal for the new album title would place him "Jen" How to start your name, Canela said his album was which shows that he is "naked".[5]

Personal Life

In September 2011, Jencarlos Canela and Gaby Espino (Venezuelan actress and model) did a live chat over social networking site Twitter, where they confirmed they were in a relationship. They announced that they were expecting their first child together and that godparents would be Cristina Saralegui and Pitbull. Espino gave birth to their son, Nickolas Canela Espino, on February 12, 2012.[12]

Music career

At the age of 12 Jencarlos began his musical career as the lead singer of the group "Boom Boom Pop". After two years of successful participation with the group he decided to start his solo career in late 2002. Over the following five years, he appeared in several international events including the "Miss World" 2004 and 2005 beauty pageants, "The Latin Fiesta Festival" in Toronto Canada, and "The CALLE OCHO Festival" in Miami. During this period, he continued his studies of music and acting at the New World School of the Arts (USA), from which he graduated with honors in May 2006. The Ford Motor Company chose him as model and singer for its "Ride it Like a Ford" ad campaign. This commercial was broadcast on television in the U.S.A.

Jencarlos first album was produced by Rudy Pérez at his studio in Miami Beach. This project may be produced in various languages, as Jencarlos has performed songs in English, Italian, German and Portuguese.

In 2012, Canela, in collaboration with Emilio Estefan, recorded the song "Sueña" for Telemundo's coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics. It was also to be the official song of Miss America 2013, but a contract dispute with Telemundo led to the song being replaced by "Don't Stop the Party" by Pitbull. Canela, signed with Universal Music Latin Entertainment.

Acting career

Canela made his acting debut as Alfredo Torres in the hit telenovela Pecados Ajenos, in which he collaborated with Dominican singer Cristal Marie to create the theme song for the show. He then went on to appear in Doña Barbara. In 2008, he starred in the critically acclaimed stage musical Miami Libre at the Arsht center.[13] Likewise he debuted as the theater actor in the musical "Miami Free", a story that narrates the dreams of a young Cuban that arrives in Miami with the intentions of being singer, but for that to happen he will have to conquer a series of obstacles that make this work a true example of perseverance. In "Miami Libre", he not only acted, but also performed songs, and showed his dancing abilities. The play was performed in both English and Spanish.

This young Cuban-American is capturing the attention of international mass media who have featured him in several magazine covers and feature interviews and articles, In 2008 Jencarlos was the winner of People en Español.com Most Sexiest Man Poll, competing with figures as Ricky Martin, Eduardo Yañez, Pablo Montero, among others.

On January 16, 2009, Canela signed an exclusivity contract with Telemundo.[14]

In 2009, Jencarlos Canela star in the soap opera "Mas Sabe El Diablo" obtaining a stunning success around the world.
