Jeffrey Howard Piero Wincott (born May 8, 1957) is a Canadian actor, athlete and martial artist.

Personal life

Wincott's mother was born in Milian, Italy, and his father was born in England.

Wincott was born in Toronto, Canada.

Jeff is the elder brother of actor Michael Wincott.

Jeff met his wife Charlotte in Los Angeles in 2002, and they were married on June 21, 2003. On November 30, 2009, she gave birth to their first child together, Wolfgang Anthony Wincott.

They live in Manhattan, New York. where Charlotte is a doctoral student in neuroscience at New York University School of Medicine.

Trivia

Wolfgang was named after the character Wolf from the Martin Sherman play Bent. It was Jeff's first professional role on stage in Toronto.

History

Wincott began on the stages of Toronto, Canada playing Mark Smeaton in Anne of the Thousand Days, Bogey in Play It Again, Sam, Albert Godby in Still Life and Bert Bentley in Red Peppers, Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet and Wolf in the Canadian premiere of Martin Sherman's play Bent, among others.

Wincott's first TV role was on King of Kensington in Toronto. In 1980 Wincott worked with Madeline Kahn in his first film Happy Birthday Gemini. Shortly thereafter, director Paul Lynch cast him in the horror film Prom Night as Drew in 1980 with Jamie Lee Curtis and Leslie Nielsen. In 1984, Wincott was cast in the film The Boy in Blue with Nicolas Cage. That same year, Wincott was cast in the lead role as Detective Frank Giambone in the TV series Night Heat. After completing 96 episodes on CBS and working with guest stars Danny Aiello, Héctor Elizondo, David Carradine, Phyllis Diller, winning a Gemini Award for Best Dramatic Series and a nomination for Best Actor for Wincott, the show came to an end in 1989.

In 1992 Wincott guest starred in the TV series Matlock with Andy Griffith. In 1994, Wincott, a black belt in Taekwondo, was cast as the lead in the film Martial Law 2. This was followed by lead roles in the films Deadly Bet, Mission of Justice, Martial Outlaw, Open Fire, No Exit, Street Law, The Donor, When the Bullet Hits the Bone, Last Man Standing, Future Fear with Stacy Keach, and The Killing Machine with Michael Ironside. In 1996 Wincott worked with Lance Henriksen in the film Profile For Murder. In 1998 Wincott worked with Director Jeff Woolnough on the made for TV movies Universal Soldier II and III with Burt Reynolds and Gary Busey. Wincott joined Adrien Brody and Burt Young in the romantic comedy film Undertaker's Wedding in which he played Rocco. In 2000, Wincott went to work with director Eric Weston in the film Pressure Point starring Michael Madsen, playing the crazed killer that takes Madsen's family hostage. In 2003, Wincott worked with director Clark Johnson on the film S.W.A.T. with Samuel Jackson and Colin Farrell, playing Ed Taylor. Wincott guest starred on the TV series JAG, 24 with Kiefer Sutherland and NCIS with Mark Harmon. Wincott was cast as Leo, in the 2006 film Lake City with Sissy Spacek, Drea de Matteo, Keith Carradine, Troy Garity, Dave Matthews and Rebecca Romijn. In the film The Invasion in 2007 starring Daniel Craig, director Oliver Hirschbiegel cast Wincott in a scene with Nicole Kidman. Wincott guest starred in the final episode of the TV series The Wire playing undercover officer Jimmy Weaver in 2007.Director Tony Scott brought Wincott on board for the film Unstoppable with Denzel Washington to play Chris Pines brother Jesse in 2009. In 2011 Wincott guest starred with Jim Caviezel as Lieutenant Gilmore on the TV show Person of Interest. In 2012 Wincott guest starred with Tom Selleck on the TV series Blue Bloods.Griffin Dunne directed Wincott in The Good Wife with Julianna Margulies in 2012. Wincott has a recurring role as Jimmy Cacuzza (Cucuzza Crime Family) on Seasons 1,5 and 6 of Sons Of Anarchy . New director Dan Pritzker chose Wincott to play Johnny Collins, Louis Armstrong's Chicago mobster/music manager in the film Bolden! (release TBD).
