Jeanette M. Núñez (born June 6, 1972) is a Republican member of the Florida House of Representatives for District 112. Voted in during the 2010 elections, she officially holds office from November 16, 2010 to November 16, 2012. She is currently a 2012 Republican candidate for the Florida House of Representatives for District 119. Núñez is presently running against Libby Pérez in the Republican Primary to be held on August 14, 2012.[1] The general election is set to be held on November 6, 2012.

Early life, education and professional career

Núñez, the youngest daughter of three, was born and raised in Miami, Florida.[2] She studied at Florida International University, where she earned a BA in International Relations and Political Science. She also later attained an MBA in Public Administration. She has taught at F.I.U.'s College of Public Health's Graduate Program as an adjunct professor and has also served as an advisor to the F.I.U. College of Business, Health Care MBA Program. She began her career as Chief of Staff for Florida State Senator Alex Díaz de la Portilla, where she was involved in legislative policy and constituent service. Núñez later became Vice President of Government Affairs at Jackson Health System before accepting a position as Vice President of External Affairs for Kendall Regional Medical Center and Aventura Hospital & Medical Center. She is a Board Member of Kristi House, which is dedicated to protecting and caring for young victims of sexual abuse. As a graduate of Leadership Miami, she and her peers developed a scholarship program for homeless children.[3] In 2007, she was honored with "Hispanic Woman of Distinction", which was presented by the South Florida Business Journal and Latina Style Magazine.[4]

2010 election

During the Florida House of Representatives, District 112, General Election held on November 2, 2010, Jeanette Núñez defeated Sandra Ruíz (D) and Robert Van Name (NPA) by receiving 19,390 (55.7%) votes.[6] District 112 consisted of parts of Collier County, Broward County and Miami-Dade County. As a freshman FL House Representative, she was selected as the Deputy Whip for the Republican Caucus.[1]

Prior to the General Election, on August 24, 2010, Núñez had won the 2010 Republican Primary by triumphing over Juan D'Arce and James Patrick Guerrero by receiving 66.34% of the vote. [7]

Jeanette is married to Adrián Núñez. She has three children: Megan, Justin, Jason[1]
