Jean Boiteux (June 20, 1933 – April 11, 2010[1]) was a French swimmer and Olympic champion.[2]
He was born in Marseilles.
He competed at the 1952 Olympic Games in Helsinki, where he received a gold medal in 400 m freestyle.[3] He received a bronze medal in 4 x 200 m freestyle relay with the French team (with Joseph Bernardo, Aldo Eminente and Alexandre Jany).
Boiteux was the first person from France to win an Olympic gold medal in swimming.
Death
Boiteux died after falling from a tree in his garden on April 11, 2010 at the age of 76.[4]
