Jaye Jacobs

Emma Jaye Jacobs (born 27 May 1982 in Street, Somerset), is an English actress.

Early life

Born in Street, Somerset, she was educated at the Crispin School, where she became deputy-head girl.^[1]

She attended dance classes at the Joy Tinney School of dancing,^[1] where she landed several roles in their yearly musical, including the Lion in The Wizard of Oz. She subsequently trained at the Arts Educational School in London.

Career

While training, Jacobs undertook a series of part-time jobs, including modelling shoes and underwear, working in an Indian restaurant, and making and selling jewellery.

She is most famous for her role as fun-loving nurse, turned Ward Sister, Donna Jackson in the BBC medical drama series Holby City from 2004 to 2011.^[2] She also played the role of Alice in a spin-off of BBC soap opera EastEnders, "Perfectly Frank", in 2003.

In 2011, it was announced Jacobs had joined the cast of BBC drama Waterloo Road as new Deputy Head and Science Teacher, Sian Diamond in the seventh series.^[1] Following the drama's relocation to Greenock in Scotland, Jacobs has also made the move up north, and appeared throughout the eighth series. She stopped filming her character from August 2012, and her final episode was shown on 28 February 2013.

Jacobs is also a mezzo soprano singer, and has considerable sporting ability: she is an accomplished gymnast, trampolinist and javelin thrower, and holds a brown belt in Karate.

Strictly Come Dancing

In Autumn 2005, Jacobs appeared in the third series of Strictly Come Dancing, dancing with professional partner Andrew Cuerden. However, the couple were eliminated in the second week of the contest.
