Jarkko Hietaniemi

Jarkko Hietaniemi is a Finnish Perl programmer best known as the creator and "master librarian" of CPAN.[1][2] Otherwise, he has originated several Perl modules, and coauthored the book "Mastering Algorithms with Perl. He has been the maintainer of perl 5.7.x that lead into perl-5.8.0 5.8.1, but later stepped down from maintaining the perl 5.8.x branch.
As measured by numbers of commits, Jarkko Hietaniemi is responsible for nearly a quarter of the core perl code-base;[3] perl's support for Unicode is primarily due to his work on perl version 5.8. Jarkko worked for the Nokia Research Center, and currently for Google[4]
