Jardim do Mar (Portuguese for garden of the sea) is a civil parish in the western part of the municipality of Calheta in the archipelago of Madeira. In 2001, this coastal enclave had less than 252 residents, in an area of .74 square kilometres (740,000 m2), and approximately 1 to 2 kilometres (0.62 to 1.24 mi) from the municipal seat in Calheta.

Geography

Jardim do Mar is a sliver of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the cliffs of the neighbouring parish of Prazeres, and accessed by a single roadway and tunnel system to Prazeres and Estreito da Calheta.

Jardim do Mar has a school, a lyceum, a gymnasia, a church and a square (Portuguese: praça).

The waves break large and surfing is enjoyed here by experienced surfers.
