Jan Martín (born November 20, 1984)[1] is a German-Israeli-Spanish professional basketball player who last played for Maccabi Ashdod from the Israeli Ligat Ha'all and previously for Spanish side CB Illescas.[2]

Biography

Martín is the son of Fernando Martín Espina, who was the first Spanish basketball player ever to play in the NBA.

Playing career

Martín started his career at CB Estudiantes, one of the clubs his father played for. He spent the 2008-09 season with CB Illescas where he played 25 games and averaged 6.5 points a game.[3]

Martín is a regular subject of transfer speculation to basketball clubs in Israel because he is Jewish and would therefore not count against the foreign player cap there.[4] In 2008, it was speculated that he would join Maccabi Haifa. A year later, however, Martín was working out with Maccabi Tel Aviv.[4]
