James Wiggins (October 15, 1879 - October 16, 1991) was the World's oldest man from the death of Henri Perignon (who was just one day older than him) on June 18, 1990 until his own death at the age of 112 years, 1 day on October 16, 1991. Wiggins was the first black man to reach age 112, and the third man overall to do this, after Alphaeus Cole and John Evans. Wiggins was the oldest verified black man ever until Johnson Parks surpassed his age in 1996. Wiggins remains the oldest man ever born in Arkansas even today, over 20 years after this death.

Wiggins was the last surviving man born in the 1870s,[citation needed] and the last WOM (world's oldest man) who died before the end of the Cold War.[citation needed]
