James Vowles, born 1979 in Felbridge, is a British motorsport engineer, currently working in Formula One with the Mercedes team as their Chief Strategist.[1]

Vowles was responsible for the Brawn GP[2] race strategy, which was critical to the teams' 2009 campaign.[3] Prior to Brawn GP, Vowles worked in Formula 1 as an engineer for Brawn GP's predecessors British American Racing and Honda Racing F1.

Vowles has completed various BBC interviews, his latest during the first practice session in Korea, 2010.[4]

Vowles attended the International school of Geneva until he graduated, in 1997. He went on to the University of East Anglia obtaining a degree in Computer Science, followed by a Masters in Motorsport Engineering and Management from Cranfield University in 2001, receiving the Prodrive Award of Excellence.
