James Uriell
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
James Uriell (died 1423) was an Irish judge who held office as Chief Baron of the Irish Exchequer.
He was born in County Dublin, son of Thomas Uriell, a landowner.[1] The Uriells were a Norman family who first settled in County Louth and are thought to have taken their name from the old Kingdom of Oriel.
James was Serjeant-at-law (Ireland) in 1406. He became Chief Baron c.1417 and retired in 1420; he died in 1423.[2]
He was married and had several daughters; most is known of Catherine, who married Robert Derpatrick (died 1420) lord of the manor of Stillorgan. [3]They had no male issue but Catherine in 1422 was granted as her dower part of the woods of Stillorgan and one third of the profits of the mill.[4]
