James Tilley (born 11 November 1993) is an English rugby league player who currently plays for St Helens RLFC. In 2013, Tilley made his debut for the club against Super League club Castleford Tigers.[1]
Early years
James Tilley started his career playing for amateur club Portico Panthers in his hometown of St. Helens. He studied at nearby high school The Sutton Academy.[2]
Playing career
He was signed by St. Helens RLFC at the age of 10. Prior to signing for the first team, he won Under 16s, 18s and 19s Player Of The Year awards in consecutive years. A versatile back rower, he has also been known to play Prop. His preferred position is Loose Forward.
2013 season
He made his debut against English Super League club Castleford Tigers on the 1st of April 2013.[3] He was brought on as a replacement in the 53rd minute for Mark Flanagan and played the remainder of the game. During the game he made a 40-yard break and almost claimed his first try for the first team. The game finished 48-18 to St. Helens. He played his second club game live on Sky Sports against French club Catalans Dragons on the 12th of April 2013, replacing other substitute Joe Greenwood. The game finished 12-22 to the French outfit.[4]
