James Horace Burnley, IV (born July 30, 1948) was the American politician and lawyer. He was served as the United States Secretary of Transportation from 1987 until 1989, during the administration of President Ronald Reagan.
Early life and career
Burnley was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, on July 30, 1948, the son of Dorothy Mary (Rockwell) and James Horace Burnley, III. He graduated magna cum laude from Yale University in 1970, with the Bachelor of Arts and was got his Juris Doctor from Harvard University in 1973.
From 1983 until 1987, Burnley was served as the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Transportation until he became as the U.S. Secretary of Transportation, following the resignation of Elizabeth Dole. Burnley was outright from 1987 to 1989.
In 1996, Burnley was the senior advisor for Robert J. Dole's Presidential campaign candidate. He later on, Burnley was served on the board of the directors from the Infrasoft, Inc. From 2001 until at least 2003, Burnley was worked on the lobbyist, from the airline and industry.
Burnley was on the board of FreedomWorks.[1]
Personal life
Burnley and his wife, the former Jane Nady Burnley, and they had two children, Jay and Anne. He was resided of the Falls Church, Virginia, and was also the resided of High Point, North Carolina.
