Jambusar is a city and a municipality in Bharuch district in the Indian state of Gujarat.[1]

Jambusar has an average elevation of 4 metres (13 feet).[2]
Demographics
As of 2001 India census,[3] Jambusar had a population of 38,771. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Jambusar has an average literacy rate of 67%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 75%, and female literacy is 59%. In Jambusar, 14% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Origin of name
According to Legend, many centuries ago, a Brahmin tribe lived at this spot. The name Jambusar is derived from their surname JAMBU + SAR (which means Lake or Pool in Sanskrit). There is a lake named "NAGESHWAR TALAV" in the city centre.
