Jacob Penn Cooper "Jake" Hurwitz (born August 5, 1985)[2] is an American comedian, writer, and actor, who writes and acts as part of the cast of comedy website CollegeHumor.[3] Hurwitz is also the co-creater and co-star of popular CollegeHumor web series "Jake and Amir", alongside coworker Amir Blumenfeld, with whom he also cohosts the video podcast If I Were You.

On December 18, 2013, it was announced that Jake and Amir will be adapted into a TBS sitcom, and that Hurwitz will star in the series, as well as serve as a writer and executive producer (alongside Blumenfeld and Ed Helms, among others).[4]

Early life

Jake Hurwitz was born in Spring Glen, Connecticut, to parents Laura and Samuel Hurwitz,[2] and grew up in New Haven, Connecticut with his five siblings, including triplet sisters Rachael, Eliza and Sarah Hurwitz,[5] sister Hannah and brother Micah.[6] His father is Jewish and his mother is Christian. He attended Hebrew school and had a Bar Mitzvah, and also celebrated Christmas and Easter.[7]

Career

Hurwitz made his comedic debut in 1992 in his elementary school talent show doing impressions of Beetlejuice, Steve Urkel and Bob Dylan. Hurwitz attended Hunter College, though he also dropped out of Moravian College in Pennsylvania and another school in Connecticut, before joining the CollegeHumor team in 2006.

Personal life

Hurwitz has a butterfly tattoo on his left arm that he got at age 18, though he began to regret getting it three years later.[8]
