Jaisinghnagar is a town and a nagar panchayat in Shahdol district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Locals also call it Jaisinagar. It has a fort made by King Jaisingh. Now the fort is in private hands of Baghelas who lives there.

Geography

Jaisinghnagar is located at 23°38′N 78°34′E / 23.63°N 78.57°E / 23.63; 78.57.[1] It has an average elevation of 593 metres (1945 feet).It has incorrectly been stated that the fort is in hand of baghelas in reality it is owned by the wakhle family and its members .

Demographics

As of 2001 India census,[2] Jaisinghnagar had a population of 7392. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Jaisinghnagar has an average literacy rate of 57%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 65%, and female literacy is 48%.
