Jacob Maschius

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jacob Maschius (c.1630 12 August 1678) was a Norwegian clergyman, poet and copperplate engraver. He is remembered for the poetry book Norwegia religiosa from 1661. He made two copper engravings from the Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim. These have been basis for discussions regarding later restoration of the cathedral. In 1676 he was appointed priest in the parish of Jølster, where he died in 1678.[1][2]
