Jack Irish is a series of Australian television movies adapted from the detective novels by Peter Temple.[2] The series stars Guy Pearce in the lead role of Jack Irish, a former criminal lawyer turned private investigator and debt collector. The telemovies have been adapted by screenwriters Andrew Knight and Matt Cameron, and directed by Jeffrey Walker.[3]
About the author
Peter Temple was born in South Africa and moved to Australia in 1980. He has been an international magazine and newspaper journalist and editor. He has also taught journalism, editing and media studies at university level. Temple has written nine novels, including four featuring the Jack Irish character. His novels have been published in 20 countries.[4]

Future
Producer Ian Collie has plans for producing a further Jack Irish telemovie, an adaption of the fourth novel, White Dog and plans to option a fifth Jack Irish book, which author Peter Temple is currently working on.[7]
