Biography

J-hope was born on February 18, 1994 in Gwangju. He attended Gwangju Global High School.

Career

J-hope is a former JYP trainee and auditioned together with B.A.P.'s Youngjae. Before his audition, J-hope was an underground dancer.[3]

J-hope joined Bangtan Boys in 2011. Prior to his debut, he starred in the music video 'Animal' by 2AM's Jokwon. He was also a back-up dancer on Jokwon's music video "I'm the one". Along with members Jimin and Jungkook, he produced a cover of "Young, Wild and Free" by Wiz Khalifa, naming it the "Graduation Song."

He received his stage name from his producers, who took the first letter of his surname and added "hope" to it, due to him being the "hopeful" member of the group. His stage name is also linked to Pandora's box which, according to Greek mythology, bears only hope when no other content remains.

He is inspired by A$AP Rocky, J.Cole, Beenzino,[4] and G-dragon.

J-Hope is currently a member of Bangtan Boys along with Jin, Suga, Rap Monster, V, Jimin, and Jungkook

2013

J-hope was the first to be introduced as a member of Bangtan Boys, along with Suga and Rap Monster.[5]

J-hope, Rap Monster and Suga, have composed and written the lyrics to most of the songs from their first mini-album, 2 Cőol 4 Skool, as well as their latest album, O!RUL82?[6] Additionally, he starred in a variety show called 'Rookie King' with the rest of Bangtan Boys.[7]
