Jón Bjarnason

This is an Icelandic name. The last name is a patronymic, not a family name; this person is properly referred to by the given name Jón.
Jón Bjarnason (born 26 December 1943) was a member of parliament of the Althing, the Icelandic parliament from 1999 - 2013. He is a former member of the Left-Green Movement and a former Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries. He currently sits as a non-party member, and is a co-founder of the new Rainbow political party. He didn't get reelected in the 2013 parliamentary election as a member of that party.
