Iziaslav (Ukrainian: Ізя́слав IPA: [iˈzʲɑslɑw]) or Zaslav (Ukrainian: Заслав, IPA: [ˈzɑslɑw]) is one of the oldest cities in Volhynia. Situated on the Horyn river (Ukrainian: Горинь) in western Ukraine, the city dates back to the 11th century.[1]

In the 20th century after the struggle and civil war for democracy in central Eurasia, on the territories of former Russian Empire of 1917-1923 years under red and yellow-blue banners and birth of new Ukrainian Republic and Soviet Union there were many changes in social life of Izyaslav. For example, here was situated a Red Cossacks regiments of Red Army, worked the school of red commanders.
