Iwaki-Ōta Station (磐城太田駅 Iwaki-Ōta-eki) is a JR East railway station located in Haramachi, Fukushima Prefecture, Japan.

Surrounding area

Iwaki-Ota is within the evacuation zone surrounding the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Since April 2012 it has been possible to enter the area, but remaining in the area overnight is prohibited.

History

  • May 11, 1898: Station begins operation as Taka Station (高駅)
  • December 1, 1898: Station is renamed to Iwaki-Ōta Station
  • March 11, 2011: Station closed indefinitely following the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster.
