Ivan Zaytsev (born 2 October 1988) is an Italian volleyball player of Russian origins, who competes for Lube Banca Macerata and the national team.[1]
The son of Olympic gold medal volleyball player Vyacheslav Zaytsev, he was born in Spoleto, where his father was playing at the time.[2] He started his career as setter, but has later moved to the outside hitter role. He debuted with the Italian national team in 2008, playing in the 2010 World Championship. In the 2013 Men's European Volleyball Championship Zaytsev was awarded as the tournament's best server.[3]
His mother, Irina Pozdnyakova, is a former competitive swimmer. His sister, Anna (born 1975), married an Italian in 1993 and therefore also holds Italian citzienship.[2][4]
