Itala is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about 180 km east of Palermo and about 20 km southwest of Messina. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 1,687 and an area of 10.7 km².[1]
The municipality of Itala contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Marina di Itàla, Casalello, Borgo, Mannello, Quartiere del Medico (anche detto Quartarello), and Croce.
Itala borders the following municipalities: Alì, Alì Terme, Fiumedinisi, Messina, Scaletta Zanclea.
