István Varga (born 7 September 1943 in Abony)[1] is a Hungarian former handball player who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics and in the 1976 Summer Olympics.
In 1972 he was part of the Hungarian team that finished in eighth place in the Handball at the 1972 Summer Olympics.[2] He played all six matches and scored 32 goals.[1] At the Handball at the 1976 Summer Olympics the team finished in sixth place.[3] He played all five matches and scored 21 goals.[1]
He also participated in two World Championships in 1967 and 1970, achieving an eighth place in both occasions.[4]
